Secrets Between Friends

Do you remember when you were younger having certain trusted friends you could share anything with? You knew they would keep you secret no matter what.

Maybe you even had a secret hideout or a secret club. Only those you wanted were allowed to be a part of the group, those you trusted. Those you knew who could keep your secrets. They were your closest friends.

Friends are important. They are people we feel we can trust to share our deepest secrets with without the fear of judgement or ridicule. True friends love us because of who we truly are. They see the real us and love us anyway.

I know someone else like that. JESUS says to HIS followers in John chapter 15 and verse 15, “No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing, but I have called you friends for all I have heard from MY FATHER I have made know to you.” Psalm 25:14 says, “The secret of the LORD is with those who fear HIM. And HE will show them HIS covenant.” I think “fear” here is talking about a healthy, strong respect for GOD, who is in control of all things. Those of us who believe this trust GOD with everything. He is the truest friend we could ever have!! HE knows our deepest darkest secrets and loves us anyway!!

There have been times when I was so afraid of “what might happen”. I would make myself sick with worry. Over time, I learned to talk to GOD, knowing that HE was in control. This allowed my faith in HIM to grow. I believed Psalm 27:5 that says, “For in the time of trouble HE shall hide me in HIS pavilion; in the secret place of HIS tabernacle HE shall hide me; HE shall set me high upon a rock.”

As time went on, I realized that JESUS is more than just my SAVIOR, HE is my friend. HE loves me not matter what, and keeps me safe. All those troubling thoughts I can give them to HIM and HE lets me know I am ok, even when I don’t feel ok. Psalm 91:1 says, “He who dwells in the secret place of the MOST HIGH shall abide under the shadow of the ALMIGHTY.”

Of all the friends I have, JESUS is by far the best! Is he yours?!?
