The Fight of Your Life

Being a Christian can be really hard, especially when you do the things that you know in your heart that GOD is telling you to do, and nothing goes according to plan, your plan, anyway. Satan is there whispering in your ear, “See, nothing is working out. Are you sure you are following GOD?” Doubt, a Christian’s biggest enemy, has crept in and stolen the joy you had knowing you were doing what the LORD asked you to do.

What are you supposed to do? As I shared before, continue being intentional with serving the LORD. You might need to change directions, or just wait. None of us know exactly what GOD plans to do. We need to follow HIS lead, even if we feel that it is silence coming from HIM at times.

What we can do is continue to pray and seek the LORD. When we feel those doubts creeping in, remind yourself who you are in CHRIST! Better yet, tell Satan who you are!!

GOD’s word tells us step by step how to know we are doing the right thing in James 4:7-8. First, we need to submit to GOD., give HIM control of everything. Boy, I know how hard that is! I have tried and failed at giving HIM control of stuff so often, but when I finally let GOD have it, there is so much peace and not so much worry.

Our next step is to resist the devil. Resist means to withstand the actions or effect of, to exert force in opposition, or to exert oneself so as to counteract or defeat something or someone. Jesus, himself, encountered Satan and his deceptive words and tactics. Matthew 4:1-11 describes how Satan tempted JESUS with food after HE had fasted for 40 days. What did JESUS do? HE quoted scripture. Satan tempted JESUS with telling HIM that HE would be kept from harm if HE did what Satan asked. Again, JESUS quotes scripture. Since that didn’t work, Satan tempted JESUS by offering HIM the world. So what does JESUS do…”GET BEHIND ME SATAN!!!” JESUS resisted Satan, and Satan had to leave. Matthew 4: 11 says “Then the devil left HIM, and angels came and ministered to HIM” (NKJV). Since we are children of GOD, we can do the same thing. We have the power through the Holy Spirit within us to recognize and defeat the lies that Satan tries to get us to believe.

As we grow closer to the LORD by praying and seeking HIS word, we see things in ourselves that we know must change. Some things are easier to get rid of than others, and because of that, it might seem like you will never get rid of that “thing” that Satan says you will have forever. You might feel like you are in the fight of your life. But trust me, this “thing” will finally fall away before you know it. One day you will wake up and, just like that, it is gone. Satan no longer has that “thing” to beat you over the head with. Praise the LORD!!! This, my friend, is what scripture calls working out our salvation with fear and trembling. (Phil 2:12-13). If we keep on keeping on, praying and seeking the LORD, even though it doesn’t seem like you are making any headway, one day you will know without a doubt that you have trusted and sought the LORD, resisted Satan, over and over again if need be, and this battle is over. You have overcome with the help of the LORD. This does not mean that all battles are over. Satan is relentless in seeking whom he can destroy. We must be just as relentless seeking the LORD, even more so. You are having the fight of your life, but we will be victorious. GOD’s word declares it!
